"Taste the Flavors of Australia: 15 Traditional Recipes to Savor Down Under" 


7. Anzac Biscuits:

Ingredients:


1 cup rolled oats

1 cup plain flour

1 cup desiccated coconut

3/4 cup brown sugar

125g butter

2 tbsp golden syrup

1/2 tsp bicarbonate of soda

2 tbsp boiling water


Instructions:


Preheat oven to 160°C (320°F). Line baking trays with parchment paper.

In a large bowl, combine rolled oats, flour, coconut, and brown sugar.

In a saucepan, melt butter and golden syrup together over low heat.

In a small bowl, mix bicarbonate of soda with boiling water. Add to the butter mixture and stir until combined.

Pour butter mixture over dry ingredients and mix well to combine.

Roll tablespoons of mixture into balls and place onto prepared baking trays. Flatten slightly with the back of a spoon.

Bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown. Allow to cool on trays for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
